FlORAL CONCRETES are semi solid mass obtained by solvent extraction of fresh plant material in perfumery. They are highly concentrated & aromatic, oily mixtures extracted from the plants whereas essential oils are produced by distillation, boiling or pressing (also called as Cold Pressing). In several cases, the fragrances imbued in the organic materials, may get damaged by the extraction methods such as: heat from steam distillation (Aroma/Essence/Fragrance compounds from flora/ flower are difficult to get as these compounds are very sensitive towards steam) whereas Solvent extraction process uses hydrocarbons (such as hexane) to extract the volatile compounds without degrading/ destroying the original fragrances during the process. Once the solvent is removed, the resulting product is known as a Concrete. The extract contains the volatile aroma/flavor molecules in addition to chlorophyll and other plant tissues, resulting in a highly colored and viscous extract.
FLORAL ABSOLUTES are also produced through solvent extraction method, or more traditionally, via enfleurage process (Enfleurage is a process that uses odourless animal or vegetable fats that are solid at room temperature to capture the fragrant compounds exuded by plants. The process can be "cold" enfleurage or "hot" enfleurage) as some flowers are too delicate to be used in steam distillation process that can hurt them & destroy the original frgrance thus these oils can more economically be extracted using a process called enfleurage. Floral Absolutes are further extracted from Concretes when the latter is put to a secondarly solvent extraction process by using with Ethanol. The solids such as waxes, oils, fats etc.. dissolve in the alcohol. The alcohol is then removed through the process of evaporation. The remaining “fragrance/ essence” is called an absolute and it is the most concentrated form of fragrant material. Floral Absolutes offered by us are manufactured from fresh Concretes and with the use of perfumery grade alcohol only. Whereas ethyl alcohol helps to remove plant waxes and other contents from the plant and hexane helps to bring the concrete form. Floral absolute oils are extracted by parts of the plant such as leaves, roots, barks, shoots and flowers. Floral absolute oils are high in aroma content and they need more attentive care to handle & the processes need to control deligently to isolate them during solvent extraction method. We always use air tight bottles for these floral absolutes to keep the volatility of them intact & also recommend to keep them away from heat also. These aromas are obtained in a two-stage process of floral extraction to obtain best Floral Concretes and Floral Absolutes.. In the first stage, fresh harvested flowers are solvent extracted to get Floral Concretes. Floral Concretes are more natural fragrances and are widely used in cosmetic products .In the second stage, Concretes are put into advance extraction process to obtain Floral Absolutes. An Absolute is the most concentrated form of a fragrance and is mostly used in the perfumery industry.
